Looking Forward to Spring with the Ramsey Outdoor Staff

We checked in with our staff to share what they are most looking forward to about Spring. Read the blog below to find out what the warmer weather brings for them and some of their top gear picks!

Kevin: I am looking forward to Spring because I can’t wait to get out backpacking and go back to the Sangre de Cristio Mountains in New Mexico. I have already started to pack my new Osprey pack full of gear. I hope to get out to beautiful New Mexico if Covid doesn’t have a resurgence.

Robert: This Spring I will be cleaning up and organizing my fishing gear and putting new line on my reels. Also looking forward to getting out surf fishing in the back-bays for Stripers.

Bree: Hiking at least twice a week is a must for me in the springtime and luckily Ramsey Outdoor has some of the comfiest gear to wear like pieces from Vuori (some would say my obsession), Patagonia, and Arc’teryx. I am excited to test out some new apparel from these brands and enjoy the warmer weather after shoveling over forty inches of snow this winter. This season is particularly special, since the end of my college career will be here and you can bet that means celebratory hiking excursions and even some paddle boarding trips to the bay along with treating myself to more Vuori clothing, of course.

Andrew: I can't wait to be fishing dry flies on the upper Delaware. I've been busy tying flies to fill my boxes to make sure I'm ready for all the hatches.

Shannon: Camping and hiking are my go-to outdoor activities in the Spring season and after this past winter and hectic year, it is going to be essential each week for me. National parks in West Virginia along with the White Mountains are for sure in my plans to enjoy in the warmer weather. I may be someone who has that sticker of "This car climbed Mt. Washington" on my bumper, but I am proud to say that I have traveled to so many places to camp with my favorite Columbia convertible pants , Osprey backpack and Big Agnes tent and I cannot wait to get back out in the woods this season.

Stephen: Now that Spring is here, I’m excited for the longer days and hiking in warmer weather. The Catskills is a great place to enjoy backpacking adventures, and I’m looking forward to climbing mountains and exploring the great outdoors.

Beans: Archery is a year-round sport, but nothing beats firing arrows in the Spring; with beautiful weather and songbirds singing to you while you spend hours hitting your mark, it’s the perfect activity to spend the afternoon! I am currently in the process of tuning my compound bow, fixing broken arrows, and ramping up to teach private lessons in my backyard. Phil: Although there are many things that excite me about Spring, I look forward to backpacking the absolute most. While I do hike all year-round, nothing motivates me more to push for long mile days like some quality fresh spring air. I have spent the last few weeks fine tuning my pack with the invaluable items from Ramsey Outdoor and gearing up for many nights under the stars.
