Trout season officially opens in New Jersey this Saturday April 6th at 8am and we couldn’t be more excited! We, as seasoned fishermen, sat down to think about what equipment newer anglers would need in order to get out on the water! Below, please find a list of what we think are the most important…and a few other optional items that we like to have as well! Happy Trout Season! - Fishing Licenses and trout stamps can be bought in-store at both of our locations. To purchase online, click here.
- Lightweight rod and reel
- Fishing line
- Size 8, 10, 12 Bait Hook or Salmon Egg Hook
- Assorted sized weights (split shot)
- Small bobbers (for fishing still water)
- Small clippers (for clipping fishing line)
- Fishing forceps (for removing hooks from the fish)
- Bait (salmon eggs, meal worms, garden worm, power bait etc.)
- Small lures (Spinners, spoons, Trout Magnets etc.)
- Polarized sunglasses (to see fish in the water and to protect eyes from flying hooks)
- A stringer or creel (if you are keeping your fish)
- Tackle box, Tackle bag or vest (to store you stuff)

PLUS, we have worms, night crawlers, salted minnows, and mealworms in both our Ramsey and Succasunna locations.
