Labor Day End-of-Summer Road Trips

Aug 26th 2020

Summer is ending, but it’s not officially over yet! Whether it’s for the day or the weekend, there’s still time to get in a last-minute road trip this Labor Day and make some new memories. Here’s a list of our favorite end-of-Summer road trips, in no specific order.

  1. Visit a State or National Park: Pick a State or National Park and go on an adventure. Whether it’s a new park or one of your favorites, seeing the beauty America has to offer always makes for a perfect trip.
  2. Take a Beach Day:Pick a new lake or beach to visit, spread out the towel and dip those toes in the water one last time!
  3. Go Camping: Camping is a cheap and fun way to see the country and bond with friends and family. Find a new camping spot within driving distance and enjoy a weekend with Mother Nature. Don’t forget the Smores!
  4. Go Hiking: Looking for a great day trip? Gather up the crew and spend the day hiking a trail. The fresh air and exercise will make everyone happy, and make sure you pack a picnic.
  5. Get Out on the Water: Take one last trip and kayak or canoe your favorite river or lake.
  6. Take a Food Trip:Nothing can make you want to take a road trip more than the promise of some killer BBQ or claims of the best Pizza in the State. Feed that need and plan a trip where your inner foodie is in charge.
  7. Visit a Capital:Whether it’s your state or one of the neighboring ones, visiting a State Capital is always a fun and educational trip for everyone. Most offer free tours and more!
  8. Visit a Roadside Attraction:There are tons of wonderful and wacky roadside attractions all across the USA, like Lucy the Elephant in Margate, NJ. Just choose your destination, pack up the car, drinks, and snacks, and hit the road!
  9. Be a Tourist in Your Own Town:Of course, as a local, you already know all of the hot spots in town. But when was the last time you played tourist in your own city? Get out there and see the sights, take a few tours, and make sure you pick-up a t-shirt.
  10. Make it a Mystery Trip:Take your road trip game up a level. Let one person plan out the trip with only them knowing the final destination. Give away clues along the way to help fellow travelers guess the secret location or keep them totally in the dark…it’s up to you!

Before heading out for your road trip, make sure you check with the parks or any places you will be visiting for restrictions. Planning an end-of-Summer road trip with the list above, you’ll be sure to make the most out of Labor Day and the last days of Summer.
