Layering Guide

Posted by Ramsey Outdoor on Oct 24th 2018

Halloween is here, and that means that Winter is right around the corner. With the chill already in the air, we’d like to share our Layering Guide with you to help you and your family enjoy the outdoors longer while maintaining comfort, whether you’re trick or treating, hitting the slopes or just out on the town!

Socks

It’s hard to believe, but you lose a lot of heat from your feet! Make sure that you keep your feet warm and dry whenever outside this Winter.

  • Darn Tough Vermont Men's Uncle Buck Boot Cushion Sock: We all have one of those uncles. This Uncle Buck is disciplined, rugged and feels like a giant teddy bear hugging your feet. Built to handle the most unpredictable terrain with cushioned comfort.
  • SmartWool PhD® Women’s Slopestyle Light Ifrane Socks: When cabin fever hits, the best antidote is to hit the hill, and to stay there as long as you can. Backed by the power of temperature-regulating, moisture-managing Merino, the Slopestyle Light Ifrane makes sure your feet are ready to go, run after run.
  • Fox River Mills Kid's Monkey Face Socks: Your little one will love these sock monkey inspired socks. These aren't crafting socks though. They’re made from soft, sustainable Merino wool and offer great fit and comfort-enhancing feature.

Base Layers

Think of this as the foundation of your warmth. Base layers help to manage moisture and provide a light layer of protection against the elements.

Thermals

Anyone who lives up North, knows that thermals are a staple once it gets cold outside. Designed to fit underneath your clothes without creating bulkiness, they are perfect if you’re going to work, pumpkin picking, shoveling the driveway, and more!

Outerwear

This is your last layer of defense and you want to think of it like the exterior of a house…your outerwear should be waterproof, breathable, and prevent anything from getting in.

Now that you know how the different layers of protection build upon each other to encase you in warmth when facing Old Man Winter, it’s important to think about what can be exposed from head to toe before each excursion. One spot left exposed to the elements could make for a not so fun experience! Gear up for a Warm and Stylish Winter with Ramsey Outdoor!
