With the fall creeping towards us, we imagine you are swamped with talk of back to school, back to work, and the ever-changing weather. BUT…instead of focusing on all of the stuff that stresses us out, we wanted to talk about one of our favorite things to do in the fall…go camping! Not only do you get the beautiful foliage, but you have those cool, crisp nights where there is nowhere else you’d rather be than in front of a campfire or in a cozy sleeping bag under the stars! Here is our list of favorite things to do while fall camping!
- Take a Hike! There is nothing better than a fall hike! The temperature usually makes the fall the perfect time for a hike because you won’t be sweating in the heat! Also, it is a great time to take some of the more challenging hikes so that you can take a look at the fall foliage from the top of your area’s higher points.
- Take some beautiful pictures! While at the campsite or on a hike, incorporate photography into your hike…whether you use a GoPro, a cell phone, or a professional camera, those changing colors are soothing to any eye!
- Sit around the campfire! There is nothing better than sitting around the campfire on a fall night! Our perfect night would be a cookout under the stars followed by s’mores and campfire stories! It wouldn’t hurt to be hanging out in a Helinox Sunset Chair all night either….nothing like being cozy, warm, and full!
Side note: Don’t forget to layer! While you are doing all of these awesome activities OR just sitting around the campsite it is so important to layer! The fall can play tricks on your body temperature, especially while you’re being active! Be sure to layer up and always have cold weather gear handy because it gets cold at night! Happy Camping!
