During the holidays it is easy to reflect on how important family is - which is why we wanted to tell you a little more about ours! If you didn't already know, Ramsey Outdoor Stores are family owned and operated and have been since their inception so many years ago.
Our story started when the patriarch of our family; Lester Levine, moved his family from Brooklyn to the New Jersey suburbs in 1953. He owned a hardware store in Brooklyn and always dreamed of opening a bigger store. This was his chance to pursue his American dream. He opened the first store in Ramsey, New Jersey. The Ramsey store still sits in its original location 63 years later!
In 1975, Lester’s son Stuart joined the business. His passion for the outdoors reflects the growth of our specialty departments such as fly fishing. He continues to run the stores today along with both of his children who have had the outdoors instilled in them since they were able to walk!
Ramsey Outdoor Stores have gone through an evolution over the years. We started as a part outdoor store, part hardware store and have grown into the area’s most trusted outdoor experts. We are very proud of the legacy we are building. We are proud to have employees who have started and ended their careers with us and we consider them family. During this holiday season we want to thank them, and you for your loyalty all these years.
