Did you know that November 17 is National Take a Hike Day? Hiking can mean many things - a walk around the block, walking with the kids to a local playground, hiking trails in a local park, or even a weeklong excursion trekking the Appalachian Trail. On this National Take a Hike Day, whatever it may mean to you, get out there and define your “hike”.
Wondering how you can participate in National Take a Hike Day? Check out the different ways below.
- Decide Where to Hike: Even if your current responsibilities won’t allow you to take that big trip you’ve been wanting to take, plan something for a day or two when you have time. Our National Trail System covers all 50 states. So, go for a short hike or weekend excursion on a nearby trail.
- Take A Volunteer Vacation: Consider the idea of taking a Volunteer Vacation. This is a vacation in which you give back. Check with the American Hiking Society for local volunteer projects or to go on a Volunteer Vacation.
