TARGET SPECIES: Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, Dorado, Tuna, Pompano, Yellowtail, Snapper, Grouper, Triggerfish, Sierra, Milkfish, Billfish.
SEASON: Our high season is April - Nov., when the winds die down and summer weather brings the warmer water and prized grande Roosterfish. Although we fish year-round, with the later season offering great billfish and dorado fishing, small-medium sized Roosterfish still linger, followed by yellowtail and sierra.
GEAR: The most versatile rod is a 10wt., but anything between 8-12wt. can see action. Go-to lines are a tropical intermediate clear sink-tip and a full sink with 40/30/20 lb. fluorocarbon leader. Useful fly patterns include clousers for smaller rockfish, crease flies for topwater action, tube flies for billfish, and baitfish patterns such as kinky muddlers, deceivers, and other mullet, minnow, and sardine patterns in 2/0-4/0. Check out our fly recommendations at www.thefishranch.com.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Located 2.5 hours north of Los Cabos and 45 mins. below La Paz, our lodging is just outside La Ventana, on the edge of Bahia Turquesa, a mostly undeveloped miles-long stretch of the beach provides access to prime beach fishing. Our 12-bedroom, 3-story private Villa is beachfront with a pool, palapa, fire-pit, Flycraft fishing SUPs, and much more.

FOOD: Whether it's Yellowtail sashimi caught that day, brick-oven pizza at Rancho Cacachiles, Superburros from our local hotdog stand, or homemade gnocchi and chocolate bourbon pecan pie from our legendary Italian Chef Emilio... we love food! Breakfast will be a quick grab-and-go before heading out to fish, lunches are eaten on the boat or beach, and dinners are a mix of eating out and BBQs at the Villa.
WEATHER: Be prepared for long hot days in the sun and water, with a waterproof grab-bag for on the boat or beach fishing. A detailed what-to-bring list will be provided, and most items including sun shirts, hats, water bottles, reef-safe sunscreen, are also available in the Fish Ranch shop.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: Snorkel gear is available and there will be opportunities for evening sunset paddle boarding, biking through an ancient cactus forest, pool time, massages, or an afternoon trip to La Paz or El Triunfo. We are happy to accommodate special requests.
