Nothing says camping like toasted marshmallows and s’mores. However, sometimes you may want to get creative and nix the traditional version. Here are a few of our favorite s’mores alternatives in honor of National Toasted Marshmallow Day, August 30th, in no specific order.
- The S’morewich: Melted marshmallow, chocolate, toasted bread – yes, please! Grab your pie iron and soon you will be the hero of the campsite with this tasty treat. Just pile the ingredients on the bread of your choosing, toss it on the fire for a few minutes and the pie iron will do the rest. S’morewiches can be served hot or cold, either way, you won’t be able to stop eating them.
- S’mores Nachos: Grab a disposable aluminum dish and pile in graham crackers, marshmallows, and broken up pieces of Hershey’s chocolate. Place it near or over a campfire using a grate or directly on a grill for a few minutes or until the marshmallow and chocolate is melted and then enjoy in the tasty gooeyness.
- S’morito: No fire? No problem! Take a crepe or something equally flat like a coconut wrap. Spread on a generous amount of marshmallow cream, then drizzle with chocolate sauce, and sprinkle on crushed graham crackers. Roll it up and savor a S’morito or 3.
With the list above you’ll be sure to enjoy this delicious day, whether you’re camping or just sitting around the backyard fire pit.
