Who doesn’t love a three-day weekend? Especially if there’s an adventure involved! We know we sure do because it means we can spend more time outdoors doing some of the things we love most like skiing and snowboarding, snow tubing, ice skating and snowshoeing. The Northeast has some of the best family-friendly resorts, and with a few long weekends coming up, here’s a list of our Top 5 spots to make your next long weekend unforgettable!
- Stowe Mountain Resort: Located in the charming town of Stowe, Vermont, this resort features skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoe tours, a rock-climbing wall, a spa, and more!
- Camelback Mountain: Located in the beautiful Poconos of Pennsylvania, Camelback Mountain offers the largest snow tubing park in the US! Riders can race solo or ride with a buddy. Adventures at night are more fun with Galactic Tubing, a tubing park that glows with an LED light show. If skiing or snowboarding is more your style, they have over 38 trails and are only a short drive from most major cities in the Tri-State area.
- Mount Washington Resort: Located in New Hampshire, Bretton Woods has once again earned the distinction of “Best Grooming in the East” by SKI Magazine! They offer the largest ski area in Vermont with 62 trails, 35 glades, and 3 terrain parks. Plus, other activities like ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, a spa, and more guarantee fun for the whole family!
- Hunter Mountain: Located in New York, Hunter Mountain offers skiing, snowboarding and the largest tubing park in the state! Riders can choose from more than 20 high-speed lanes that are almost 1,000 feet long. Race more and walk less with a carpet lift, plus don’t forget to stop by the snack bar and fire pit for more family fun.
- Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort: Located in Hancock, Massachusetts, this is the largest ski and snowboard resort in Southern New England. With trails for the whole family, they also have a Mountain Coaster that twists and turns through the woods, a Fire & FunZone with music and games, and snowshoeing.
Before heading to the park for your fun-filled weekend, make reservations if necessary, check age and height requirements as they do vary by park, and pack appropriately depending on the weather. Don’t forget to pack layers in case it is colder or warmer than expected. For the kids, make sure they have a jacket that will be warm enough, boots, as well as gloves and a hat. Save time and occupy minimal space when packing by using packing cubes to keep clothing organized.
