This Wednesday, April 11th is National Pet Day! Founded in 2006 by Collen Paige, National Pet Day was created to celebrate the love and joy animals bring to our lives as well as encourage adoption. In honor of this day, we’d like to share a list of our favorite things to do outdoors with our fur-babies.
- Take a Hike: Chances are your pup is a bigger fan of hiking than you are! Nothing is better than exploring Nature together, except maybe if you pack a picnic for two! Be prepared; know what trails are dog-friendly and it’s also helpful to know the potentially harmful plants for dogs in the area.
- Every Dog Deserves a Beach Day: Run, play, swim, and sink those paws into the sand! Pack your pup’s favorite outdoor toys, water, snacks and head to a dog-friendly beach for a day of fun neither of you will forget!
- Catch Some Fish: Can you think of a day better spent than sitting on a lake or river with your four-legged BFF fishing? Neither can we! Plus, extra paws always help catch extra fish!
- Hang Ten: Get out on the water and SUP with your Pup! This can make for an exciting and rewarding adventure for you both, just make sure your furry friend has some training with the board prior to getting out on the water to make it enjoyable for them.
- Spend a Night in Nature: Everyone knows that dogs love to ruff it! Spend a night or two in a dog-friendly campground with your furever friend and incorporate some of the activities above for a fun-filled adventure blazing trails and building your bond.
Always make sure your pet is current on vaccines and healthy enough for any activity to reduce injury risk. When going out on long adventures with your pup, be sure to have plenty of water, First-Aid Supplies, and know how to perform CPR on your dog in case of emergency. Gear up for adventure with your four-legged friend with Ramsey Outdoor!
